Eugenia florida (Guamirim) is a small shrub from the Myrtaceae family, native to South America. It has glossy, dark green leaves and produces fragrant white or pink flowers, followed by small red or purple fruits. It grows 3-5 feet tall (sometimes up to 10 feet) and thrives in full sun to partial shade, preferring well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Itβs drought-tolerant once established and used in landscaping for its ornamental value. The fruits are edible but not commonly eaten. Regular pruning helps maintain its shape.
